Short: SPin DIz File Base for MAXs 1.54
Author: stephen@dcandy.demon.co.uk (Stephen Corry)
Uploader: mac@athene.co.uk (Martyn Coles)
Version: 1.3
Type: comm/maxs
SPin is yet another attempt at implementing file_id.diz to MAXs (although I
hope you consider it a successful one)
Basically SPin is a total re-write of MAXs own file base. It's completely
compatible with MAXs built in base. It reads BBS:MaxsBBS.config for the
following
Section Access Levels
Section Attributes (Aliases, Links etc.)
New Files Public flag
Optional Files Path
Text Path (for ListFilesMenu.text)
Userfiles path (for Alias cross reference)
It also accesses, and updates the File.data and File.index, thus allowing
you to use MAXs built in File Editor to edit/delete/make_public/lock files.
Now access the User.Index to cross reference an entered Alias with any user
currently in the user base. I mention this only because you may see it acces
user.index in snoopdos and go "ah, a back door".. well it ain't, if you know
enough about MAXs you'll know that access levels and all other info's
relating to the user are stored in User.DATA
It's main feature is file_id.diz, however theres various little extras I cant
be bothered listing :) You'll see as you go along, you'll be surprised,
but impressed :)
Ah yeah, and it now also has byte ratios. :)
I wont bother telling you what I think about it, coz I'm biased ;) Check it
out dude, the worst you can do is waste 1 minute installing it and since the
installer makes a backup of your current config before updating it, well it's
easy to de-install.
